Effects of CT on Kidneys

CT receptors have been identified in various parts of the kidney. CT inhibits tubular reabsorption of calcium, therefore it directly or indirectly promotes the urinary excretion of calcium and phosphate. CT also inhibits 1-alpha-hydroxylase activity in the kidney which leads to a reduction in calcitriol formation.
