What is GIL@MCG?

GIL@MCG is the online catalog for the books and journals held by the Medical College of Georgia’s Robert B. Greenblatt, M.D. Library. The "GIL" acronym stands for "GALILEO Interconnected Libraries," a part of the GALILEO initiative. While each four-year University System of Georgia institution has a GIL online catalog, soon all GIL catalogs will be merged and available for simultaneous searching.

GIL@MCG is found at http://gil.mcg.edu and is listed with other electronic products on theLibrary Electronic Resources page.

The GIL homepage has several sections:

  • three search interfaces - Quick Search, and tabs to Keyword Search, and Exact Search
  • My Account section to retrieve the GALILEO password or renew material online
  • search links to the Keyword Search interface and Course Reserves
  • links at bottom of screen to other GIL or Georgia online catalogs, GIL help, and links to GALILEO and the Digital Library of Georgia.
